"Look Mommy, 1,2,3,4,5. Five sides." I look into the cup and sure enough, a part of the coffee and taken the shape of a pentagon. Our exploration didn't end there. Soon, the pentagon turned into a circle. Then it became an oval. With every sip it changed. He then points out a seahorse. I totally see it. Then I spot a stegosauras. Next, it's a humpback whale. I think that's where we stopped.
I am so glad he stopped me from ordering him to leave my coffee alone. I would have missed out on an opportunity to use my imagination with him. So the next time your child/ren look like they might be doing something you don't want them to do, stop and wait. They may just be excercising their creativity. Lesson learned.
